gongzuo,

There are many ways to repair you credit, but any way you choose will take time and discipline on your part.

You will want to start a few different tradelines, a small credit card that you can afford, a car loan that you can afford and any other type of account that will establish a creditable payment history for you.

Hopefully you can find some that are willing to give you that shot with your credit. This may be the hard part. Persistance and patience will win out. I am sure that others will come along and offer you advice, there are many folks here in your shoes, so the exchange of information and advice will be good for you here. Hang in there, it can only get better right????? Razz

I would use the yellow pages and find a reputable local credit counseling service. Make sure you do research to see if they are legit and trustworthy.

Hi gongzuo
I would always advice you to repair your credit by yourself and not to go for any credit repair companies, as you will end up spending dollars on them, which you could use to pay off your debt. This forum has lot of discussions on how to repair your credit by yourself.

I agree with you Anthony. To explain you in short gongzuo, all you need to do is to go through your credit report and find which of the listings is affecting your report. If you find a CA listing send them a debt validation letter. If they validate your debt within 30 days of receipt of your letter try to settle for a PFD agreement, but if they cannot validate your debt, send dispute letter to the Credit bureaus asking them to delete the listing. Again if you find hard inquiries in your credit report, send the inquirers letters asking whether they had proper authorization to make hard inquiries. In most cases they do not have proper authorization and so they delete the listing. However, if there is any charge off or bankruptcy listing it cannot be deleted neither by you or by a credit repair company. This forum has lot of conversations about how can you repair your own credit. You can go for credit counseling, but I would suggest you not to go for credit repair companies because the amount you give them as their fees can be used to repay the debt if you try to repair your credit by yourself.

10 years ago I filed for bankruptcy. From then on, I have been doing credit repair on my own and my wifes credit files. It is a full time job just knowing how to handle each negative trade line on your report. There are legitimate credit repair services out there. I used Lexington law, who turned out to be the worst, monthly fee schemers. I did then get tired of the wording, "this item has been verified" letters. So............ I decided to read up on the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
I am now certified. I do credit repair as a part time Job. I have had very good results. It is all in the know how. Took me ten years to learn, but I learned. The draw back to repairing credit is the time involved. Following through on replies, how to handle a collection agencies verification, or validation letter sent back to you. Its like trying to sell real eastate, You need to know what you are doing.

Justin has said it the best way that I could think possible, you definately need to pull your credit reports and do as Justin has said to do and go through them thoroughly.
