Account sent for collection 6 months ago. If I pay the account, must the collection agency remove it from my credit report?

NOPE...not necessarily. It's the discretion of the CA. If the debt was sent to a CA only 6 months ago, then the SOL (Statue of Limitations) hasn't past yet. They STILL could try and collect the money from you, some how. FIRST..I would send a Verification letter to them, so they can ( or can not) verify that the debt is yours. If the debt IS yours, it doesn't matter whether you make small payments to pay it off OR pay the ENTIRE amount in one lump sum, it's STILL the decision of the CA. They have 30 days to respond ( usually about that time, anyway). Let me know an 'update'.

i suppose paying full or part payment will have impact on the consequences whether they will remove your name from your credit report or not? so what options you are trying full payment or part payment.
