Subject: please help discover old debt

please help someone, I have a discover card debt that shows on my credit report. On the Trans union, it said the date closed for this account is 07/2003, the date updated is 09/2004. And it is purchased by another lender. I lived in California, I think the sol for this debt has expired. But another CA name Genesis financial solution is collecting this debt. Do I have to pay them? Should I send a DV letter to them 1st? OR simply just send a letter to Trans union and other CRB saying that this debt has reached sol. If I dispute it successfully at the CRB, will it shows up again if the debt is purchased by another CA?

Does any credit card Debts shows up on the credit report everytime it is sold to one CA to another? Does that also means the SOL restarts all over again?

Also I am trying to close the escrow on this property, I only have ten days left to resolve this debt to shows up on my credit report before the loans get approve. What should I do ? Please Help anyone?
