Subject: Recieved a settlement offer from Verizon Wireless which is s

I recieved the settlement offer from Verizon Wireless When I reviewed my reports, I noticed that in the status section it states Account charged off. $1,093 written off. $1,093 past due as of Aug 2009. The settlement letter was dated August 13th, 2009 for 546.62. Any advice? Should I pay them off even if it shows that they wrote the debt off? Thanks

Hi jriosjr1980

Even if a debt has been charged off, you still owe the debt. A charge-off will remain on your report for 7 years and is not a good thing. Contact your original creditor and tell them you want to settle the debt and ask them to get the charge-off removed from your report in return.

Subject: Debt was sold to Collection company

I was looking at my credit reports and noticed that the debt was sold to Pinnacle Credit Services in May. I recieved the settlement letter from Verizon in August. I also never recieved anything from Pinnacle Credit Services. Aren't they supposed to send me a letter informing me that the account was sold to them? Thanks for your replys.

Hi jriosjr1980

As of now deal with Verizon. Pay up and get it done with. Don't forget the pay for delete request.

No. But make sure that the OC still owns your account before making any payment.

Is Verizon still reporting the debt OR do you see a collection agency reporting the debt OR both are reporting the debt to the credit bureaus?

Also, I will call Verizon and ask if the account was SOLD to a Collection Agency (CA). If so, there is nothing you can do about that "Charged off" status with Verizon.

If it was sold to the CA, Verizon is no longer the owner of that debt. The CA is now the owner. You are going to have to negotiate with them. Always validate the debt (DV letter) before any deals and try everything to get a deletion of their account on your report. You can find a sample of a PFD letter on this site.

This would be your best option. Call verizon and ask if they own the account or if they sold it to collections. If they did indeed sold it then they can no longer own it. You need top be sure you are paying the proper company. Try for the pay for delete but if you can not get that try to get them to list it as "paid as agreed" anything is better than paid;settled for less.

Subject: Conversation after I called Verizon

Posted on Fri Aug 28, 2009 7:13 pm

I have called Verizon and I got the name of the person and her ID# and was told that I had 2 accounts with them. One for $1,093.25 and the other account was sold for $555.00. I told the person that I did not own these accounts and that if they had documentation that validated that the debt was mine. She said that they did have that documentation. I requested that that documentation be sent to me with a copy of the contract that I signed with Verizon that showed my signature. She told me that they dont send that out and that she would send me a copy of the bill. I told her that that was not proper validation. So she then told me that she would be sending me validation letters for both accounts. Any other advise???

Thank you all for your help.
