Subject: Turn a hard inquiry into a soft inquiry?

I read that one can try to contact the bank and ask them to turn the hard into a soft inquiry when you were denied. Is that a possibility?

I haven't heard anything like that to my knowledge. However I do know that a soft inquiry might turn in to a hard inquiry though. E.g. pre screened inquiries may be soft but if the creditor re checks your report before making a decision of extending credit to you, it might become a hard inquiry.
