I make approx.40,000 a year and she make appox.6000.We have 2 young children.Should we file jointly and how should we claim to get the most out of our weekly income with out oweing at the end of the year?I would really appreciate some help thank you! :?

Isn't the tax deadline past, are you talking about next year? If you are married and residing in the same household I believe that you must file either head of household or joint. You don't really get to pick and choose, go to the internal revenue website and see what catagory that you fall in and you should file the way they recommend so that it don't come back to bite you later.

I believe that they passed some new guidelines a while back so people who were married did not get penalized higher taxes . You could go to one of those free tax sites like turbo tax and enter your information both ways to see which is better. I believe they will more than likely come out the same. There may not be much of a difference in married filing separate or married filing together.
