What do I do? RBC has false claims against me.

I've recently checked my credit.

RBC has a rather large claim against me for "stolen/forged" account.

I have no idea where this claim comes from. I've never had an account with RBC nor have I ever dealt with them.

The account was open about 4 years ago and closed two months later.

I called the credit bureaus (TransUnion , Equifax) and they confirmed that it is on my report, gave me some information like account number and transit number. I also asked them to begin an investigation(account dispute?). (Which will take 30 days)

I've visited RBC and they told me they have no record of my name or any information on the account.

My question is what to do? I'm thinking this is a case of stolen identity. Filing a police report is the next step for me and I don't know how long it's going to take.

I seriously need this off taken off my credit so I can function in this society. But I'm not sure what the credit bureaus will do to "investigate" ... anyone know? Please help. What do I do to resolve this ASAP?

Yes, file a complaint. If you do not own this debt then I am afraid it might be a case of identity theft. Talk to RBC, tell them you have never owned the account and dispute the account with the credit bureaus. Your next step will depend on their response. Do keep us informed.
