| I am currently trying to repair my husband’s credit. There is one collection from a bank that we are trying to dispute because my husband has never had an account with them. I have sent dispute letters requesting a validation of debt, however, each time I receive a letter back from the agency say that they dropping our case and sending it back to the creditor and each time we start the cycle over again. We have had collection letters for this debt from several different agencies, so my question is... what is the next step if the agency cannot validate the debt? How do we get it dropped completely? |

| Zetta, Hello and welcome to the forum. When you pulled up you husbands report did you see the debt listed there? Somewhere on this report should list the original creditor. If you can find it I would give them a call and try to clarify the matter. Also when you sent the debt validation, did you send it by certified mail? If so then you have the proof to dispute it with the credit reporting agencies and have the collectors remarks removed but you still would have to find the original lender to clear up the matter. |

I would suggest you to dispute the debt with the bureaus. Get the name of the original creditor from your husband's credit report. When you are disputing the debt also attach the letter that you have received from the collection agency where they have stated that they shall remove the debt. I think this should do the trick. _________________ Keep in touch
