Equifax had me listed as filing Chapter 13 on credit report I disputed it Because at first I did then had to convert it to a chapter 7 because I couldn't afford the payment after losing job. I let Equifax know this so when I got the results from the dispute it stated that they verified it and said I had filed Chapter 13 and gave the address and number for the court I filed at. So I called the court house to see why they didn't tell them it was converted to a 7 and the lady said she didn't know where they got their information from but it wasn't from them. So now I will send a copy of chapter 7 discharge paper along with the paper that states who was included and letter and dispute it again. But it has me wondering do they really verify things that are disputed or not.

I'm just wondering where they got their information from if it wasn't from the court. Maybe they weren't notified but the first time when it was a chapter 13 but the other two CB have it listed right. I was just shocked with the dispute results. But I'm sure sending in the papers to as proof should take care of it.

It should, just stay on them, they have to change it to the correct information if you provide them proof.

I really wish they (whoever they are) would revamp the way that credit is evaluated and reported. I think it is sad that a person suffers for seven years after a mistake. I have four accounts that were in bad standing that I completely paid off and there was NO benefit for me to pay them off. They are still in the negative. I just don't think the consumer gets a fair shake on the credit reporting.

A lot of information on reports can get messed up. I was just looking at my report this past week. I also pulled my hubby's report and there was so many different names listed on there and i have no clue where they came up with them. I was actually wonsdering if I should dispute them or ask that they be changed but I guess they are not causing any harm.

I know what you mean I have a charge off listed now that I was under the impression that if I paid the early termination fee I was in the clear but now it is listed as a charge off if I would have known they were going to list it that way I would have included them in my bankruptcy and kept my money. I know now to get it in writing next time. Thanks to all of you on this site.

They should have to reference the original acount when they buy them and report them. You can end up with so many entries, it just causes confusion.

I am not so sure the early termination fee should show as it does on your report. An early termination fee is a penalty you pay to end a service before the contract is up. Either way you paid your dues. They do not list credit cards paid off early as a bad debt. Have you tried to contact the company that you paid this fee to and asked them why it sis listed this way on your report? Maybe you could get them t o change how it is listed.

Yes I contacted them today and they said They would not change it or work out any pay for delete. So I told her that was fine I was miss informed and I would seek legal advise. I don't know if it's anything I can do about it now but I will call a lawyer tomorrow.

Did you file a dispute? If not, you should, they may not respond and it may be removed through that angle. Goodluck and keep us updated.
