I just got engaged, and my boyfriend has great credit-I on the other don't. If we get married, how will this affect his credit?

It will not peronally affect his credit. It may hinder a loan. Say if your credit is bad and his is excellent , depending on how bad yours actually is the you may get turned down for a loan. You could perhaps help get your credit up by being a co applicant on a credit card. His credit score may actually get you both approved for a low amount credit card. Just be careful cuase if you for any reason break up you both will be held accountable.

True fireyone,
I don't know if I would venture into a credit card or any other financial obligation with anyone that I was not married too. You just never know what the future holds. I guess that would be true for a married couple too, but less likely to happen.

Yes and not only that the laws of credit cards can be very confusing. I recently was trying to find information on wether an authorized user could be held responsible for a delinquent debt and I got some different answers. Alot say no and some say it depends on how the contract was written. So always be careful when adding others to your credit card accounts.

It all goes back to reading that fine print. Fireyone did you find out what you needed to know? What is going on with your situation now? Do you have any idea?

Goodnatured, I did in fact find some information on my situation after surfing around and making a few phone calls. I just today sent out a debt validation by certified mail; return receipt requested. I did not have the account number so I pulled the one off the credit report since it was the only Chase NA listing (although on the good side).
I have had people suggest that I dispute the listing with Experian but I have never heard of someone disputing a good listing and plus I want to be able to show it was on my good side and last reported back in 2003. Do you think this was a wise move.
