I have an old debt reported in my credit report. The SOL for this debt has past but the collection agency is still reported it. I had made the last payments way back around 5 years ago. I remember that I didn't do anything in between that will restart the SOL. So how is the collection agency reporting on the debt? At this juncture I am a little confused regarding the starting of SOL. When does it actually start? Should I take any kind of initiative to remove this report from my credit report?

I believe it goes by the date of first delinquency and if it is past the SOL you can send a letter to the collection agency stating that. And they should remove it.
