Is this a valid debt validation letter response?

All they sent me in return of me my debt validation letter was account statements with my name but no contract. Is this valid?

I wouldn't think so. But I could be wrong. I would request a copy of the original contract signed by you. They could have typed those statements up and put your name on them. The same day you requested them to verify that the debt was yours. I wouldn't except it as proof. But others should be able to help you with this further. Hang in there.

Does the final balance equal the amount that they are trying to collect? Was there a signed contract?

I myself have asked this question on different forums and I have consistently been told that they must provide the original signed contract and that just a copy of the bill is not valid proof. I am just going by what I have been told time and time again. Also it seems the amount that is on the bill from the original creditor almost never matches the collectors. Sometimes they are almost doubled. Can they legally do this. I asked this question and was told no and also told it depended on how the contract was written. If they do not show the contract then how are you to know how it was written?

whether a signed contract is needed depends on the situation. the judge can rule that there is evidence of the contract.

However, the law clearly says that you have a right to know how the balance due was calculated. So if the validation shows a different balance then the Ca is asking for, then it is not validation. there is generally state law the governs what a CA can add on.
