I have a free report from Capital One Credit Card with Experian.
My credit score is 690, and they said 690 is Fair.
Why ?
I hear 680 is Good ?

I was told buy the manager at fico.com that Experian didn't renew their contract with fico. So the use a totally different scoring system than fico does. So that is probably why.

Wow I didn't know that. Experian is one of the bigger companies. I wonder why the contract was not renewed? Either way a score of the upper 600 is fairly good. I know my when my hubby had this scored we still secrured bank loans and we also got good interest rates. I would go over your credit report, check for any errors and then see what else you can do to get it even higher. With a score like this it would not take much work.

Ya I was shocked as well but when I got my credit report I got all three through Experian. And then a had an alert through Equifax and when changes were happening on my report my score with Equifax wasn't changing and I wasn't happy with that at all so the guy at Equifax gave me the direct number to fico so they could try and figure out why. That is when he told me my scores weren't true fico scores because the report was through experian and they didn't renew there contract with fico. But he also told me the banks still use them though which is sort of confusing if they have a different scoring system how can they be considered. I guess if it's not much different then that would be fine. But it almost seems like you have to have perfect credit to get even a 600 with them now.
