Has anyone had any success getting a paid Macys charge off removed from CR? If So How?

Hello Ollvcheer and welcome to credit magic,

How old is your Macy charge? Usually charge offs will fall off at the seven year mark. You could try disputing it but chances are if it is valid then it will remain there until your seven year period is up. The older charge offs are the less dmage they generally do as long as you work hard at building your score while waiting for it to fall off.

True fireyone,

One can work on their credit while waiting on the derogatory remarks to fall off, this may take a while depending on where you are on the 7 year time frame.

Hopefully you are close to that 7 year timeframe and it will fall off soon, in the meantime, work on what you can. Apply for a card or two, make small purchases and pay the minimum or a little more to establish a credit payment history.

What I wonder is do the derogatory marks fall off right at the seven year mark? Some say it takes a little bit for the credit bureaus to update your report but as far as I seen most do fall off when they are suppose to. Has anyone ever had three different fall off dates for the same debt? I have one left and it should fall off in May but the other two reports give different dates. The latest one is September of this year. I would like to finally have a clean report.

Hello cinnamon, I never heard of the thrift department. What exactly is that? Could you explain it to those of us who have no knowledge of it? Thanks. Your response will be appreciated. I always love to look further into things I do not know about. Never know when I may need it or can use the information to help out someone else.

Thank you for the information, I have never heard of this agency either, good to know there is another agency out there to file complaints with.

How are they with responding to consumers? Hopefully they are doing what they are set up to do and that they are consumer friendly. I will take a look at the link, thanks again for the information.

Basically what happens is that they contact the bank, and suddenly the bank has time for your complaints. They often send a letter that states "we did nothing wrong, but we will delete this tradeline as a onetime courtesy".
