home loan

My wife obtained a home loan prior to our marriage. I did not sign this loan. The loan however shows up on my credit history. The loan is current and the house is now rented. Can this loan be removed from my credit history? If so, then how?

(I think?) you can actually 'dispute' this item with the CB's, because your name is NOT on the loan. With my EX and I: when we got married, my EX had a loan for something prior to us getting married. However...it was automatically put on my CR, as well. i didn't 'dispute' it then because I didn't know if I could have done anything. (I didn't find this Forum until years later..LOL).

I would dispute this with mortgage company directly. if you can get a letter from them that says it is not your loan, it will come off your CRAs faster

Better to keep paying, conctat the creditors yourself and let them know what is going on. Consolidate if you can do it by just using one to pay the other. Yes, you are helping by paying off the ones you can. Especially if you want to buy a house in the future. Try to get a credit relationship with a bank or credit union where they know you and you can talk to them. Stay away from the faceless bureaus and mailorder offers.Keep at it.
