Subject: Sent to collections without my knowledge due to a fix-it tic

Posted on Sat Jan 16, 2010 2:12 am

I got a ticket for having no front license plate and window tint in august and never received a letter until December stating that I had been sent to collections (alliance one) and that my bill now was $1700. I had no idea it was in collections until I got a notice saying so, no letters or calls. I was just waiting for the original bill which never came.

This account is showing up on the CA now as a paid collection account, I had no idea I could try a pay to delete. By the way the bill was for $250, which I would have paid had I known I owed anything.

Are there any suggestions on how to get these off sooner than 7 years?

Thank you in advance.

I'm not to sure there is anything you can do since it is a ticket. These usually cane interest over time regardless. My ex lost his licenses because he didn't pay his fines. But you can always call and see if they are willing to work with you.

They have received their money now so they have no reason to want to work with you. So a pay for delete most likely will not work because they have what you owed already. A pay for delete is used if you owe a debt and you both agree that you pay a certain amount and they agree to delete the negative listing after you do. Hope this makes since.

I would ask the CA to provide all records. CAs are notoriously lazy.

How would you reommend I do that? File a discrepancy on all CAs asking them to provide all records?

If you got the ticket in aug. and didn't pay it until Dec. they are most likely going to send it to collections. Didn't the police officer write you the ticket when he pulled you over? If so that should have told you that you had a fine to pay. The part I don't understand is why they charged so much interest if it was only 4 months behind. I believe I would contact the court house where you paid the fine and find out why and you should be able to get the records from them.

Hi Debra,

The officer did write me a ticket, the problem was that I never received a bill in the mail until December when it told me I was in collections and the fees had increased due to being late etc.

That still seams like an awful lot even if you were late ect. would call the court house and find out exactly what all the charges are for it could be that they made a mistake. Give them a call it couldn't hurt.
