I recently checked my report and i found that there was an auto loan applied for in my name plus other things that i have no idea why it is there.

Have you made the credit agencies aware of this. Sounds like someone may have stolen your identity. If you haven't already let them know as soon as possible. I hear this kind of thing is happening a lot lately.

Hi,

If you haven't applied for any such loan, then call the creditor and let him know this. Request them to show you the proof of the loan applied for. If they are unable to provide you with any proof or if they find out that they had mistakenly listed it on your account, then request them to remove this listing from your credit report. You must mail the creditors through certified mail so that you can retain the receipt copies of your communication with them. You will need these later in case of any complications.

But if they don't cooperate, directly contact any one of the credit bureaus and let them know your problem. Request them to remove this listing from your credit report.

Address of the credit bureau, Equifax :
Equifax Address:
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374.
Thanks,

Aaron

This 'Identity thing' happened to me, at one time. I had my wallet stolen at work and someone had stloen my check book and debit card. Of course, I let my bank know about it and called the CB's and put a 'freeze' on my credit reports, etc. A few days later, someone had tried to make a purchase, of some furniture, in another state. They were stupid enough to try and write a check for this!! The bank 'caught' it and put fraud charges aqainst this person.

Are these items in default? if they are current, then the problem might be that your report was mistakenly combined with someone of the same name. regardless get them removed
