i had got into a car accident about a year ago...the guy that i got into an accident with his insurance FARMERS took me to CCS stating i had to pay 1,100 which i payed now CCS saying that i need to pay 600 more dollars..and yesterday the cops showed up to my parents house regarding this accident that was year ago...me and my parents live in a total different state...how far can these people go and harass me...they need to stop harassing me or i will take it to court...what is the best thing i should do..

That will depend if you have anything in writing/keep decent records on your own side.

What are the police doing with this anyway? Only time a law enforcement officer would get involved in a civil matter is if they were serving you with a summons to court; which obviously isn't the case since your parents live in a different state.

yeah i have to agree wtih mcasper, there's something fishy going on! p, do you have the police report from your accident? if not that should be on file, you may have to pay a small fee, i got into an accident about 5 or so years ago, and it seems to me that i paid like 89 cents or something small to get a copy of hte police report. i got it (a copy for myself) just in case i had trouble with the other persons insurance company. that to me would be the biggest piece in your aresnal of defense

You live in California and your plates are still in missouri, are you a college student? Don't you have to transfer all the plates over if you are not a college student or in the military and California is now your primary residence and that is where the vehicle is primarily at? Just curious?

What is CCS? Was not real clear on that?

Do you have it in writing, they should have given you some type of written agreement. What did the police officers say to your parents? This is very strange, normally the sherriffs office will serve a summons, were they state police or uniforms from the sheriff's department? If the officers left contact information, I would call them and asked them what this is all about. If you paid what you were supposed to and you have record of it, you should be okay, if they are trying to scam more money out of you, you can file a counter charge on them for false arrest. I would definately call the police department and see what the heck is going on, I would not want this looming over my head. Goodluck with this and keep us updated.

If you paid it off then why did they sell it off? Do you have proof of complete payment? Then attach it to a cease and desist letter and send it to them through certified mail.
