Subject: my acct was closed

Posted on Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:37 pm

I never recieved a bill from a purchase I made. It appears that my purchase fell in between cycles. I found out that I had a bill about 2 months later. In which I immediately paid. Well the guy I talked to didn't log any of our conversation-SURPRISE! I started getting letters from company saying that I owed money, so I called and apparently he never removed the one late fee, so I was getting late fees from the late fee. So I got it all taken care of and go to make a purchase and my card was declined. I call again and was informed that my card was closed. Now I paid off my 2k balance in 3 months and had the little screw up above. I was completely shocked. I was told the only way to reopen it is to apply for a new card. While I am trying to improve my credit I don't want to apply, I don't need the card, What I am upset about is that I am sure on my credit report it is reporting closed by credit grantor. I talked to two supervisors and was told there is nothing I can do. Is that true? I am so upset. Just when you take two steps forward, you take 1000 back!

Sorry to gear that. I know...it DOES seem, sometimes, when you are trying to 'do the right thing', something goes wrong. Was this a 'store' card, you had? A credit card, etc.?

Well, ZSTER..if you talked to someone in authority there, and you din't 'get anywhere' with them, I would say just leave 'sleeping dogs lie.' If you DID try to apply, for the CC again, Iwould almost bet, it would come back 'declined'. But, I agree with SCOTT. Do you have proof of payments?

yes there is proof. I have my confirmation # the information from my bank, I would much rather my cr show that I closed the account than credit grantor. I am not going to apply for another card, another inquiry another card with a a high limit. No thanks!

My payment did post, the problem was that the mysterious male never removed the said fees which caused my account to be delinquent. So when i called in March that is when we cleared it up and suddenly my acct was closed.

Okay then, if you have a proof, go ahead and dispute it with the bureau. Items get deleted if you can provide strong evidence against it. Try at least.

I agree with Laura. You should immediately dispute the listings with the credit reporting agencies since you have the valid documents of your payments. You can also send them the confirmation numbers of the transactions by certified mail along with the dispute letter. I think the listing will be removed from the report.

I had something similar happen to me, the funny thing is that I can not use the Dell credit but it is still showing on my credit report which is good for me. I think Dell Financial has a way of not letting you charge on the account but keeping it open. This way if you get back on your feet credit wise they can run your credit and let you to continue to charge on your old account. I would suggest seeing what is reported on your credit report
