And their fax number is 1-214-368-5294, allegedly.

These people are horrid! they lie, they dont's listen to anything you try to day, they represent themselves as attorneys, they threatened to call the police to come get my son (home alone at an age that it is okay), and flat denied it when I called them back to talk about the problem. I would be happy to pay my debt but not to them, they havn't produced documentation of it.

Lisa must work for them...they are rude and mean people. They are calling our home leaving intimidating mssgs for a person that hasn't lived here for years...I have asked for the calls to stop many times and have been called a liar and continue to be harrassed. Called FTC today..they are often collecting on debts that are alreadt written off and will not clear your credit even after you pay so beware. The people acting so tough on the phone are usually faceless losers that have no ego or self esteem in face to face meeting and conversations with people...the phone is their power and fantasy world!

Hi diane
I would advice you to file a written complaint with the FTC and the state attorney general's office. Since you are not the actual debtor, you need not worry about the calls. Prefer not to receive the calls whenever you get a call from that number. Actually these CAs go to any extent of harassing people to recover the loans and would not even try to listen to you in details.

This is astounding! This many people have had something to say online at the same site within the past two months! Obviously the Lisa guest is an employee of theirs. My wife received a call from them out of nowhere when she cancelled her direct tv (with a paid in full balance by the way, as per Direct TV) months after she cancelled the service. Once she faxed them confirmation from Direct TV of the paid in ful balance, they said that it was some 3rd party provider that installed it that she owed... HMMMM, sound fishy? This was never stated to her until the faxed confirmation was received by Direct TV, (who Crenshaw claimed was who she owed to begin with). The fact is: there is no amount left owed, but it costs a fortune to fight in court, Chrenshaw knows this and feeds off of it. They know they'll eventually scare you into paying a debt that's not owed so that you can keep a collection from showing up on your report. It's a shame that there are companies out there like this. We're still arguing with them and will be damned if we pay them anything. There was no late notice or cancellation statement received from any 3rd party company during the past few months, and I don't know of ANY company that wouldn't try to collect on debts themselves first before selling off the paper to collections. It doesn't make sense, and so many people are unaware of how the whole thing works that they are quick to believe these misleading "agencies". A note to all -- Fight it like hell.

As with any bill collection agency, you should always demand debt validation. Another thing that I have found very effective is to immediately report them to their state attorney generals office as well as your own, I simply state that "to insure that my rights are protected I have requested the assistance of your state as well my state attorney general office" I have not heard from one very agressive collector. I keep the information in a file on my computer, so I can re use the letter again.

They collaborate with corrupt companies, like Firstline Alarm, which claims money for future debt, which is illegal in Minnesota where the contract was signed. They act like acts of congress, like the Servicemember's Civil Relief Act don't exist. They report addresses you've never lived at to companies like Experian, who refuse to remove the false information. They bully and act like they will get you because they've reported to a credit bureau.

They refuse to send me a debt verification letter because they sent one to an address I never lived at.

So, since I haven't have a (known) adverse issue because of their crap, I haven't tackled them yet. But, as my attorney has notified me, as soon as I have something, not only do I get to sue them and the original creditor, but also Experian for colluding with them (real investigative work to verify the debt when they concluded in 45 mins.). Each place is looking at at least a $1000 fine.

I really wish the credit reporting agencies would be a little more consumer freindly. It seems like they take the information given by the companies as truth on everything, which a lot of times is not true at all and it is on the consumer to dispute and prove it. I think this way of doing business is crap and there should be laws regulating this.

Hi Peter
Actually what happens is that after we send a dispute letter to the CRAs for removing a listing from the credit report, the CRAs verifies it with the collection agency or the original creditor as the case may be and waits for the response. What I think is that we should send a dispute letter through certified mail first, wait for 30 days at least and send another letter through certified mail with the reference of the first mail if they in the meanwhile they have not deleted the listing. Even if they do not delete the listing they have violated the FCRA laws and you can report against them to the bbb, AGs office and the FTC. I think that they will be fined for it.

I am not sure that any collection agency will take the time after the fact to remove anything from your report. Better to get a promise in writing before you pay it off.

I agree with this I would also suggest keeping all correspondence to usps so you can prove your claims and actions

I do agree with the usps, but I would also add that doing it certified and return reciept requested is the way that I have always done it. That way you have a signed reciept that they signed for it.
