If I get removed as an authorized user from an account with some late pays can I then dispute with the credit bureaus as "not my account?" If so, will they delete the account completely or just stop the reporting at that time?

accounts that have you as an authorized user should not be on your .credit report

Just dispute as authorized user

this is a really good question. Thank you for asking this. I recently had a collector harassing me for an account I was only an authorized user on. I didn't even recognize the account. So I can dispute this account? I was told I could but have not yet. I was trying to first find out where it had originated and who the main card holder actually was. The collector would not even give me information. I was told he had to get permission from the collection agencys owner.

yes dispute it right away.

authorized user is nothing like cosigner.

DV this collector. specifically dispute your responsibility for this account because you are an authorized user. you need to put them in the position of producing a contract with your name on it. this is not always needed for debt validation but you really can't cosign any kind of obligation over the phone or internet.

Did you live at the same address as the account older? Did you ever pay this bill? I don't think it matters but it make things tough

Hello Cinnamon, I can not answer some of your questions because the collector will not give me the information. They would not tell me who the owner of the account was so I do not know if I ever paid it or not. From the dates listed on my report (it is actually listed on the good side??) I would have been married to my husband but it does not show on his report and never has since we started looking at our reports in the last couple years. I would not have been on with anyone else that is for sure. I sent a dv letter. No response and it has been since Oct. 2009. The atty general called and they still say they can not give any information unless the debt owner allows. Go figure.

it is illegal to try to collect debt or list this account on your report. You don't need information about the owner, they just need to delete. Do you have documentation that they refused to give info to the AG?

NOT OWNER= DELETE

I would dispute this as not owner.

I was an authorized user, but was removed by cardholder. prior to being removed the cardholder was delinquent. My credit report reflects the removal, however it remains on report with late pay, lowering my credit score. Do you know of a way/form to submit to have permanately removed with no reflection?
