Hello,I received a threatening call from TRS saying I owed a PDL Everest Cash Advance and they are beginning the Wage Assignment with my employer. What is that, and can they do that? I know Everest is illegal in CA. I've sent them Cease and Desist letter but they never responded. Should I be worried about a Wage Assignment?

you need to draft a WAGE ASSIGNMENT REVOCATION letter and give it to your HR/payroll person.like this

Since they are still trying to contact you after receiving the Cease and Desist letter, so you should file a complaint against them to the SAG or FTC immediately.
Annonymous 12....or should I say SallyNachelle. Learn the laws...it sounds like the cease and desist was sent to Everest. Read the FDCPA...you cannot cease and desist a first party.
TO the poster....send everest and the CA a wage assignment revocation ASAP. Then give a copy to your payroll department.
You will have to send a wage assignment revocation letter as soon as possible to the HR. Do you owe any money to the payday lender? Even if illegal, you will have to pay back the principal amount borrowed (if you had taken out a payday loan with Everest Cash Advance).
