I had a credit card through Capitol one and i had payed them what i needed and my limit was $300 i had a bill for $206 and some change and they said they never recieved my payments on time resulting within a week i was over the limit which i wasnt what do i need to do now that i am in collections paying it o0ff $80.00 every 2 weeks?

Probalt the best thiing is if you had a copy of any verification showing the debt was paid on time. You could send them a copy. What a lot of people doesn't understand, and I am not saying this pertains to you, is that you can't mail a payment just days before the due date. It may get to its destination on time but won't be credited to your account the minute they get it. That is why the send bills in advance.
If you are paying it off every two weeks you should have this bill paid in about two months. I would continue to make the paymants faithfully and put this behind you.

sounds like you will be rid of it in no time, if I were you I would chalk this one up to abad experience, pay it off and not charge on it anymore.

I know you are upset with them, but I did want to let you know that if you close the account even after it is paid off it will lower your score, so I would just pay it off and not use it, leave the account open to build your credit score. goodluck and keep us posted.

Never thought of that advice Gn. Way to go. It is definately better to leave a good account open, unless of course they have annual fees.

well there is no sense in getting a double whammy, I know it is human nature to get mad and close accounts thinking that we are only hurting the company when really we are hurting ourselves.

If you have already made the payment, then you should have the receipt which will prove your payment. If the payment was made in check, then verify with the bank whether the amount was debited from your account or not. If it has been debited from your account, ask the CA for debt validation. I think they will not be able to validate your debt, if Capital One has already received a payment from you and you will not be required to pay $80 every two weeks.

Good advice from Sam. I had thought that cap. one had sent him a bill after he already paid. In either case he has gotten some really good advice that hopefully he takes and gets this matter cleared up.
