I was put into collection and have paid off the bad debt...but my record is now considered bad. How do I clear my record so I can get a loan for a auto.

It is not a single day process to get the credit repair done.Your bad debt remarks will be there and are going to be there at least for seven yrs.so my proposition is do not abruptly cut down all your credit lines and then make sure you pay all amount on due dates.

Meanwhile you can also take a close look at your credit report and then
try to find out bad entries.Step by step try to nullify them by sending DV letters to them.
This will surely help you to get the final results. Do not go for a quick patch as many of the time it just do not work.

stay in touch.

Hi tigr,

Do you have any proof that you have paid off the debt? Any canceled checks or a written "pay for deletion" agreement from the collection agency. If you have any of these you can send a "Dispute Letter" to the credit bureaus, requesting them to remove the debt accounts from your credit reports. You must enclose any of the above mentioned documents.

If you do not have any written proof that you have paid off the debts, it will be difficult to remove the debt accounts. But you can contact the collection agency (CA), and request them to give you some paperwork to prove your view point, to the credit bureaus. I not sure whether the CA will agree, but you can give it a try.

If the CA does not agree to give you anything in writing, you can request them to report to the credit bureaus that the accounts have been paid down. In this case the accounts will not be removed, but will be listed as "Paid Accounts". This will have a positive impact on your credit records, as a "paid account" is better than an unpaid bad debt.

do you have all your credit reports?
what state are you in?
what is the original creditor and the name of the CA?
what is the date of first delinquency? 30 days after last payment

this information will help me make suggestions specific to your case. The state will determine the statue of limitations for this debt. knowing the name of the OC original creditor, will help show if there is a specific govt regulators can intervene. Knowing the dates are very important.

Even if you paid off all of your 'bad' debts, usually negative credit shows up for up to 7 years (SOL in most states) on your CR. Unless..you make arrangements with the CA's for a 'Pay for Delete'. If you do this, make sure you have all documentation that you need to prove the 'PFD' arrangements.

They had cheated me twice. I paid them all. I've still had bad record, when I asked for the credit card to open or personal loan at the bank.
How I can clean my credit?
I'll appretiate your help.
