You can go through a credit repair agency if you want to, you have to do your own leg work, which may be coming here and doing research, asking questions or going out on your own to see what is available, what the reputation is and lastly if you are going to get a successful outcome.

However, since you are experiencing this now, it may be a good time for you to take something good out of it. By learning how to take care of the situation yourself, you will be better equipped in the future to handle these events, and more importantly, seeing the whole process, you will be able to see much further into the future and make wiser decisions in the beginning of the process.

Example: If I know that if I let a credit card go, fees, late fees, over the limit charges, etc, will eventually reflect negatively and end up in a collection or suing situation. So at the beginning, do you really want to apply for that card if you are not able to handle this responsibility or the consequences of not handling the responsibility the right way.

sorry for the long post, but there are many ways you can do it.

Excellent post gn and you are right on the money (of course). I am not familiar with the eviction process but I know alot of repair work can be done on your own. Sure it takes time and educating yourself but it really is worth it.

Hi guest
There are many companies which offer credit repair services in US. But the thing is that it is always better to repair your own credit by yourself. This is because, most of them cannot deliver the service they promise and you lose your dollars to them. But if you repair your own credit you not only save the money but also learn many things about credit, just as we learnt from this forum.

Yes Anthony is right. There are many discussions in the forum itself which will help you to repair your credit by yourself. Even FTC suggests that self repair is the best option to improve credit score. The credit repair companies promise to remove all negative information from your report, but the truth is that correct information can never be removed. All you can do is to frequently check the report and dispute incorrect information with the bureaus immediately.

To repair your credit by yourself you need to order your credit report from the credit bureaus and check the negative listings in the report. If you find any hard inquiry listings which has not been authorized by you, you need can ask the inquirers to remove it from the report. In most cases they remove the listings. You will find the contact details of the inquirers in the report itself. If you have a collection agency listing in your report, you need to send DV letters to them. You can find sample DV letters in this forum. If they validate your debt, go for a pay for deletion agreement and if they cannot dispute the listing with the CRAs

Good Advice all. This was just an little dispute on another post. I myself believe in fixing your own credit and leaving the money in your pocket or to apply it to the debts you owe.

I just want to know, if it's possible to have an eviction removed from your credit report, even if it's found to be your fault you were evicted?

Not usually. Once it reaches your report it will stay on for seven and a half years. I would say try to dispute it but If it was found to be your fault you may be fighting a losing battle. Do you owe the place any money? Maybe if you do you could call and offer to settle with them if they delete it from your report. Just a suggestion. If you do go that route make sure it is put into writing.

I would think it would be tough, especially if you can not get any cooperation from the landlord.

Most landlords hold the upper hand in this kind of matter and if they don't want to wotk with you then it is pretty much senseless to continue trying to work with them.
