Subject: Advice needed on clearing bad credit reports

Posted on Thu Apr 24, 2008 2:58 pm

Starting 2007 I have been cleaning up my credit with an online Lawyer service Lexington Law. (But before joining the online Lawyer service I paid off my Capital one card which now state charged off on my experian report).

They’ve helped removed a few unknown & inaccurate statement on my report, and my score when from 530 to 630 with all credit bureau roughly in a year (not all that great but its getting there).
During that time I paid off 2 debts 1) Nelnet Student Loan that was in collection with OFF OF STU FIN & 2) First Union Bank (now Wachovia Bank) that was in collection with RJM ACQ LLC.

The remaining negative reports are from collection agency BTI service & Collectx Inc.

BTI service shows up in my experian report as collection student loan, but this is the student loan I already paid with OFF OF STU FIN collection. Why would it just show up out of no where on my report? This was never on here until now April 2008. I confirmed with OFF OF STU FIN & the original creditor Nelnet Loan that I was cleared of all debts.

The current BTI service status:
Original Creditor: NA
Type: Installment
High Limit: $1313
Account status: Closed
Account Balance: $0
Amount past due: $550

Collectx Inc shows up in my transunion report as collection. The strange thing about this is it was on my report under the name Paragon Way which was deleted 2 months ago after a year disputing this unknown item on my report, my transunion score was at 668 until it reappeared as Collectx Inc and now my score is 618.

The current Collectx Inc status:
ORIGINAL CREDITOR: 12 AMERICAN INVESTMENT BANK NA
Type: Open
High Limit: $5091
Account status: Closed
Account Balance: $9745
Amount past due: $0

In addition to all this madness, when reviewing my 3 in1 credit report I notice in the additional information field that experian has a comment stating XPN ADDITIONAL SSN: ***-**-*** (it show the last 4 digits) but is clearly not mine.

I spoke with a paralegal with my online Lawyer service Lexington Law and they basically said they will re-dispute these items and sometimes the collection agencies pay the credit bureaus to add it back on my report.

I would like to take an aggressive approach.

Please advise any strategies I should consider

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
CLM

Well,

Giving appropriate documents of the pay off will be of help. I am sure lexington will help you with that. Now as far as taking an aggressive step is concerned report them on the rip-off report site. Did you check BTI and CollecTX on the BBB site? They might not be there, if so then getting them off your report would be easy enough, specially when your original creditor has confirmed the payment of all dues.

Code:

The only thing that matters is if the loan was ever in default. It is not important that it is a new entry, only that the information contained is accurate.

Code:
Collectx Inc shows up in my transunion report as collection. The strange thing about this is it was on my report under the name Paragon Way which was deleted 2 months ago after a year disputing this unknown item on my report, my transunion score was at 668 until it reappeared as Collectx Inc and now my score is 618.

The CA believes it is collecting a legitimate debt, so they can report until you force their hand.

Code:

I do not believe that your credit repair service should have too much trouble fixing this one.

I'm glad to hear that Lexington Law helped you. I had their services, for a while. Paid them every month, like clock work. However..........NOTHING came off my credit. I even found out there were some SOL debts ( CA's) that they never conatcted at all.

I read somewhere that Lexington Law helps get NCO accounts off your credit. I don't know if that's true or not. I din't have the BEST experience with LL. Can anyone give me any advice on helping me get NCO off my credit? I DID try to 'dispute' items, that were 'expired'. However...that din't help.

They are definitely frauds. They have been sued by the FTC earlier since then they have claimed to be a factoring company. Basically they used to reage debt accounts to earn money.
This is a pleasant read.

I am paying NCO right now, the people seem nice but and the account is owed. They didn't age it etc... Of course things can change at anytime. NCO i would like to update my CR's with new payments made. They haven't done nothing since 05 but report it, not report the 4 payments received in 2 months this year. Laura going to check out NCO just to see what i am dealing with
