What do you do when creditor or collection agency will respo

Does anyone know if there is a timeline for either collection agency or original debtor to respond to an offer in compromise or settlement? I have been on workers comp and unemployment in last year and couldn't pay their settlement offer in January-there is no expiration date on that notice but, the collection agency SAYS it expired at end of January to celebrate tax season for them.....I am getting job offers but need to buy another car....dealers say to handle this first..... Toyota is original debtor and refuses to speak with me and collection agancy says they are waiting on response from Toyota. I called Toyota and they refuse to speak with me regarding my account in any way. I sent both certified mail on February 22 and have called both daily-no response.

No there is no timeline for either the collection agency or the original debtor to respond. You can consult your State Attorney General. Can you tell me what letter did you mail them?

I can not understand why toyota would not speak with you. Do they still own the account or has it been sold off to the collection agency? Is it in litigation and maybe therefore they can not speak with you? If it is not any of those reasons then maybe they do just let their collection agency handle these types of things. I would imagine though it would take some time if they are waiting on word from toyota. Once I was waiting on a settlement offer from my health care provider (car accident) and it took almost two months to get one.

I have a toyota account and they are very good about talking with you and discussing things. What number are you using or what address are you using? Maybe I have a different one where you may have better luck.

They have always been very helpful, at least that has always been my experience with them.

dear toyota-noresponse, calling them every day is a mistake. it marks you as pretty desperate. they are just waiting for you to send a check with no obligation to themselves.

what state do you live in?
when did you last pay this?

did you make any payments on the settlement offer?

Have you ever DV'd this CA? I guess at this point it might sound more like a 623.

tell me more about this. It might help to file a complaint with the AG? what is the name of the Toyota bank?
