I have gotten more confused over all the stuff I have read. I have 120 late on a closed account in 2005, 3 collections that have been paid (shows up on 2 of 3 credit reports), and a 2 30 late in 2007 with credit still open. What is recommend now? I believe or know I did this. Do i write the goodwill letter, play dumb and just ass kiss? The internet has alot of information but its misleading and confusing on what to do if this actually my fault. Also my wife had a ch.7 in 2000 and it is still showing on trans.Un. I think this is the easiest to start with. Some one please give me advise and send me to the right post or information source.

What is your intent, do you want to have them remove it? I am not clear on what you want to do with your letter?

As far as the accounts that are closed, are they paid off or is there still money owed on them?

You may have some luck with the one that is still open, I would start with a letter on that one and play what you need to play to get what you want done. I think a company has the power to change the information on an account while it is in an open status.

Please answer the questions, I am just not real clear on the first things you mention here. Let us know.

Thanks for your response.

Yes the 120 day was in 2005 and it was paid off in full. My intent is to have it removed since it was so late.

The 30 day is on an open account that happened in 2007 and I am currently paying down debt using standard payments.

The medical collections have also been paid in full in 2007 and is on 2 of 3 credit reports.

My intent of all this is to clear up the record and the collections do I do the 623 method? Any ideas. Do I pay for a cleanup scam. Is it possible to clean these up.

My score droped avg 760 down to 625, 585 610 I WAS looking to refinance.

All ideas are appreciated..

Hi Brian,

Can you tell me what is being reflected on your credit report? What are the status of these accounts? If the "Paid in full" accounts are listed as "Paid in full", then you need not worry. To remove the negative part, you could have tried to make the creditor or collection agency agree to a "Pay for delete" agreement (PFD). With PFD, the negatives are removed from your credit report. You can try to do this now, though generally companies don't like to deal again with "Paid" accounts.

You can try the PFD with the creditor to whom you are now paying. You will get a sample PFD letter at http://www.creditmagic.org/repair/pay-for-delete.html .

As for the bankruptcy showing on your wife's report, it stays for 7-10 years on your report. Then it falls off. However, this varies according to state. Thus, you can check out the bankruptcy laws in your state.

Hope this helps.

Aaron
