Can I effectively correct credit
problems by handlling matter directly with credit agency? Is there a proven, reputable agency that can tweak credit reports?

Hi dropship
Yes, you can correct your problem by directly contacting the creditor or the collection agency who has his name in your report against an outstanding debt. You should first send a DV letter and they need to validate the debt within 30 days. After you get a proper debt validation ask the creditor to settle for a PFD agreement and them come to a repayment plan to pay off the debt. If the creditor agree to a PFD, then your credit score will automatically improve once you pay back the outstanding debt.

Your credit score can improve only if negative information is removed from your report. However, you cannot remove correct information from your report and it will stay there in your report for seven years and six months from the date of your last missed payment. However, outstanding debt listing can be removed by your creditor if you can make him agree to pay for deletion and that too in writing. Instead of going through credit repair agencies to repair your own credit, you can do it by yourself. This is because if you do it by yourself, you can save the money which you would have give as fees and use this money to pay back your debt.
