Hi violetroberts
I would always advice you not to avoid any court summons. Moreover, you have not written what is the summon for. Is it for eviction from your home due to non payment of your rent to landlord or is it some credit card due. Anyway in either case, seek legal advice immediately.

If the summon is to evict you from the house you live in for non payment of the rent, contact with your landlord immediately to prevent the case from proceeding further. Try to make him agree for a lump-sum money which you think you can afford to pay. You may also settle for a repayment plan with your landlord and pay off the amount in installments.

as you initially stated it is hard what to advise when you have no clue what the summons was for, please elaborate on why you were served or who put the summons on you.

What ever you do, do not avoid it, you must answer with in the time that is allocated by your state. What state are you in?

Please give more information so that we can try to advice you on what to do.
