I have not. I would encourage you to check with your state's consumer protection agency, but here's what the BBB has to say:

Customer Experience

Based on BBB files, this company has a satisfactory record
BBB Definition:

satisfactory record - A business identified in our report as satisfactory has, based on Bureau files, been in business for at least one year, and has voluntarily provided the Bureau with all information requested about the business and its product or service. If any complaints have been received about the business, their number has not been considered by the BBB to be extreme, given the nature of the company's business and the volume of business transacted. Complaints are also generally typical of what might be expected for this type of business. A business stated to be satisfactory has not been the subject of any recent law enforcement actions concerning its dealings with the public. If the business has been contacted by the BBB about its advertising or selling claims, it has modified or substantiated its practices to the Bureau's satisfaction. In addition, the BBB has a clear understanding of the company's business, and the business is not in an industry which has raised significant marketplace concerns.

I don't know. Doesn't that make you mad?! I looked for debt consolidation companies..I thought I FINALLY found one. When I contacted them, they, ALSO told me they had a "great repore with the BBB." To find out, they had several compliants on " unresolved issues."

As per the extract given by morningstar, RMCN are not in the good books of BBB. So I think one should investigate about this company in more details before opting for debt consolidation with it.

Personally, I dont understand why ppl even use consolidation companys. If you have the credit to get a consolidation loan then why not get the loan and DV each listing and settle them down as low as you can and make the CAs agree to PFDs? This will do so much more for your credit and you dont have to pay anyone else to do it. Then if you cant get a loan just take it one listing at a time. DV until you get a good settlement with a pfd then move on to the next.

All you really need in order to do this is a computer w/ the internet in order to research the FCRA and your states laws, A printer to print letters and the ability to get to your local post office and send them out certified mail.

Hi CMBV

I think you are correct. We can in fact send DV letters and on getting reply from the CA, we can ask the CA for waiving a part of the debt and pay the debt under agreement for PFD. With this, we can not only get rid of the debt but also the negative element in our credit report gets eliminated.

I signed up with RMCN in March 08 and it's now July 08 and I have not had one item removed from my credit report, in fact my credit is now worse. I only signed up with them because they fixed my fiance's credit and he was referred by a friend who had a bankcruptcy removed. It seems like all they do is send out a tiny form letter over and over again and focus on correcting address and credit inquiry issues, which I don't care about. I have two things on my credit and are not correct and I went to them because I wasn't having luck using the laws to motivate these people to correct my report. I want my money back. And about BBB reports, cases are marked as resolved any time the company responds, even if you say you still aren't happy, so I really don't give any credence to "positive" BBB reports.

Hi Amy Covington
Since RMCN has not been of no use to repair your credit, you can certainly claim the money back from them. If they don't refund you the money, you can complain against them to the FTC.
Now since the listing is incorrect as you say, have you send a debt validation letter to the CA whose name appear in your credit report?

You need to send a dispute letter to the Credit bureaus if you think that the listing is incorrect. The credit bureaus will verify it with the CAs and remove it from your credit report. If you have already send debt validation letter by certified mail and have not yet received response from the CAs yet, send copies of the receipt along with the dispute letter to the credit bureaus. If still the credit bureaus do not remove the listing, make a complaint with the FTC and AGs office.

Hi Amy
You are right. The credit repair companies basically remove the hard inquiries from your credit report to raise your credit score. You can remove the hard inquiries by yourself too without going to such credit repair companies and save dollars which you have paid to these repair companies. For this all you need to do is to send letters to the inquirers whose name appears in your credit report asking them to remove the inquiry from your report. Under the FCRA, only authorized inquiry should show in your credit report and so ask them for documents which will verify that the inquiry was authorized. You can threaten to complain against them to the state Banking Commission if they do not verify your authorization. In most cases they remove the inquiry as a mark of courtesy. Moreover, if they cannot verify your authorization, they will remove it from your report.

How long does this usually take to do, can you do a sample letter that we could plug in the company information into and send out please. I am sure that if you have done this, may be you could put an example on here please. I would like to do this and get things removed from my report. If you would put a sample letter on here for us to use, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

That would be great. I can not write letters like this myself and have relied on other letters from this site to help.
