If I tried to dispute something with the credit bureaus and all they did was update the info they did not remove it from my report, willl that lower my score since it was updated??? And why when I disputed the same thing with 2 credit bureaus and only one removed it and the other just updated it on me credit report?????

I have an account opened in 1989 closed 4/23/1999. It says status as of 9/22/2008. Why would this still be reported on my credit report. I thought they were removed after 7 years.
