I stumbled across a Credit Union's site the other day offering a credit re-builder program. For anyone trying to rebuild their credit this seems like a great option. The only problem is that most credit unions are local and you (or a family member) have to be a member.

Not all are offering programs like this though. When searching local credit unions I found that if the bank offers a secured credit card, there was a 50/50 shot of offering secured personal loans, some of them have turned their package into a re-builder program.

These are some of the ones I have found so far:

* Day Air Credit Union
* First Financial Federal Credit Union
* HEW Federal Credit Union
* Ledge Light Federal Credit Union
* Navy Federal Credit Union
* Northwest Georgia Credit Union
* Salal Credit Union

Great tips, KATRINA!!! I live in a very small town. None of these Credit Union names sound familiar. However....there IS a Credit Union, here loaclly, that is 'associated' with a local University here. I'm about to start school in the Fall (at the University) and I'll check and see if the credit Union has any kind of program like that.

Shop around with the credit unions to see their actual specifics for secured loans. Some will do a credit check and some will not, which is what you prefer. Also make sure that they are reporting to the credit bureaus.
