Hi Kitcat
If the student's loan gets listed in your credit report as delinquent, then it will definitely affect your credit score. Now, once it gets listed in your report, it will stay there for seven years and six months from the date you became delinquent. I think that you should pull out your credit report and check whether the debt is listed there or not. |

Hi Kitkat,
If you have DEFERRED student loans that the loan company agreed to wait for any payments until a certain date then you will be fine if that date has not passed. Some places that give student loans will actually defer payments on those loans until the person has graduated and then start repayment after that. Just look at the date of the first payment you are suppose to make and if that date has not passed then you are fine. If you would like more reassurance just call the loan office that granted your loan. |

One of the basic ideas of students is to go to college, earn while studying and save some money while studying. However, students still end up borrowing money for studies as they can't earn and save as much as they had anticipated. Students generally opt for deferred student loans as the payments can be made later without having to worry about defaulting on the loans.
Credit agencies use several factors to determine your credit score, here are a couple that are affected by your student loans.
The number of creditors you have is one of the factors used - the more separate creditors you have the lower your score. Consolidation can increase your score by combining all of your separate lenders and reducing your open accounts to one.Note that when you defer a loan, you enter an agreement with your lender to suspend repayment of the principle for a period of time.Learn about federal loans. They can be deferred until graduation without penalty. These loans are designed to be repaid after you get your education. |

| Yes it will affect your credit. My school loan is deferred but it made my credit score go down a lot. I do not know how to fix this. |
