Divorce and a repossesion

First off...Great site! Very informative.

Here's my challenge.

Currently going through divorce proceedings. My future "ex" failed to make car payments on time as we agreed.

Yes... I was the one who financed it for her.

The finance company (Chase) repo'd the vehicle two months ago and I paid the balance off 48 hours after the repo.

I currently have the vehicle and title as well as a big bold REPO on my credit report.

Is there anything I can do to remove this negative?

Once again I paid the vehicle off and there is no balance owed.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Oh boy, don't you love ex's, could have just called you and let you take it over right, but no, got to cause headaches.

Can you contact the finance company, Chase and ask them to update the information, if you did it in 48 hours that is really quick, they did not take a loss. Maybe try to dispute it on your credit report and see what Chase says to the credit reporting agencies.

Goodluck, hope you get it straightened up. Make sure you check back here as others will post suggestions. We have some good experienced people here, I am sure you will get tons of help.

You can remove repossession from your credit report. You just have to order a copy of your credit report and find out whether the repossession is listed on your credit report. If you find that the repossession is listed, you can dispute with the credit bureaus. Make sure that you explain the credit bureaus that you want the repossession entry to be deleted entirely.

If you are unable to remove your repossession entry using a dispute letter, you can try to negotiate with your creditor to delete the entry. To negotiate the removal of the repossession entry with your creditor, you can either take help of a credit repair company or you can do it yourself.

Hi Fritz,

Welcome to this community :)

You can try to dispute this with the credit bureaus. You can also send a goodwill letter to Chase, and request them to remove the negative from your credit report.

Thanks,

Aaron
