Sorry if I sound like a school marm, but there's no way you can repair credit unless you practise some self discipline...no late nights out (meaning no late payments) for starters. Next make small purchases and pay off regularly to build a good record. If you are in bad trouble you could try debt consolidation but only after getting some professional financial advice. For learning better ways to repair credit log on to "www.mycreditdetail.com".

Sound like a school marm or not, you are exactly right! When I first read the title of your post, I thought to myself there is no easy or fast fix, what takes you six months to screw up will take a person seven years to clear up.

The more educated we get on the issues that affect our credit the better off we are. I have been working on mine for quite awhile and I know I have a lot of work a head of me. I have recently gotten a card but have yet to make it to the store to make a small purchase to start building credit again. I will eventually.

Hi Mimee
You are right. It is always essential to know how to repair your own credit by yourself. This not only saves your money which would have been given to the credit repair agencies but also helps you learn to keep track of your expenses and repay the debt on time for improving your credit score. The most important way to keep up your credit score is to pull out your report frequently and check any discrepancies. As soon as you find any discrepancies, send dispute letters to the bureaus asking them to delete the listing from your report.

Mirage I like how you outlined it in your post. Good credit is not something worth risking. If you got it you should always do your best to keep it that way because like GN put it...7years to fix it back up.

I would suggest that you keep a file box, especially if you have moe than one to dispute, through a calender in the box and keep it just for this purpose.

And, Keep us updated so we know what the outcome is.
