I HAD OVER $10,000 WORTH OF DEBT ON MY CREDIT REPORT. I HAVE ONE ACCOUNT-OPEN FOR $292. I ALSO HAVE BANK AMERICAN CC WITH LOW CREDIT LIMIT/AND ALSO CAR LOAN FOR $5000. I JUST CHECK MY CREDIT, ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, AND MY CREDIT SCORE IS NOT MOVING-IT IS STILL @ 515. PLEASE HELP ME! THEN WAS DONE IN MY EARLY 20s.

How old are you now? Do you have any other established credit that will bring these scores up, like a credit card or a revolving loan? I don't know how old these debts are so it is hard to tell when they will fall off your report. please let us know how old the debt is?

Well, I am 33 years of age-the only established credit that i have at this time is 1 credit card/limit $300 and car loan, which was original $5000, but i have paid down to $2139. Utility bill for $292 about 3 years old & repo car loan back in 2003, which is under $1000. Should i work on paying these accts? It would truly be a blessing if i could get my credit score up to 580-600 by my next birthday (August)- Do i just continue to make my payments-i am going to double up on my jeep payments-which would be paid out in few months. What about purchase furiture and paying back monthly? Which they do report to credit- Thanks

I would pay the utility bill. You could use one month of the double payment money you are sending in on your jeep Since the jeep payment is not behind it isn't hurting you at all, actually it is helping you. It is an open account and it will show you make payments on time. The repo should be your next item...under $1000...make some kind of payment arrangements..this could haunt you for years...it is easier to try to pay it off.Do you use the credit card? If not start. Only charge what you are going to pay off immediately. Making timely payments on that helps your credit and when the company sees you are willing to pay and not carry a huge balance..making more than the minium payment ..then they will raise your limit..also helpful.
I am sure more people will stop by,read your post and add valuable information. Hope I helped.

Good advice there fireyone. I would suggest you look into the repo first. This is what is affecting your score. A repo can break your credit considerably as it had been with my niece. She is my age and already suffering a repo.

I know my husbands repo did alot of damage to his score. That is one of the reasons we cleared it up. Hope the OP stops back and keeps us updated.

Your credit score will dilanetefy go up, but it's hard to tell by how much. depends on other factors like how long you've had your credit cards, any delinquent accounts, total debt etc. But making a large decrease in debt like you've described will actually boost your score quickly.
