Hard inquiries are made whenever you apply for a new line of credit, be it a credit card application or a personal loan application. Whenever, the creditor pulls out your report for checking your credit history, a hard inquiry is made in your report. Each hard inquiry reduces your credit score by as much as 5 to 10 points. More and more hard inquiries suggest that you are credit hungry which gives a negative image to the creditors. Hard inquiries remain in your credit report for 2 years after which it gets automatically removed. _________________ Where there's a will, there's a way !! |

Hard inquiries can stay in your credit report only if such an inquiry is authorized by you, or in other words, a creditor can make a hard inquiry only after you have applied for a new line of credit and not before that. If you have not applied for a new line of credit and find that an inquirer is listed against a hard inquiry, just send them a letter asking them either to remove the hard inquiry listing or verify your authorization. The inquirers remove the listing from your credit report if they cannot verify your authorization. _________________ SCOTT

Yes, you should send a letter to the inquirer immediately by certified mail. If you can get at least 5 to 6 hard inquiries removed from your credit report, your score will come up by at least 30 points. There is a sample letter in this forum to remove hard inquiry. You can just personalize it by putting in your name and address and the name of the inquirer. You can get the letter by visiting the link letters of credit _________________ Anthony Marx
