Payment history

How long does it take to get a positive result if you have been behind on a payment and started making it current. When, after how many payments current will you start seeing an improvement on your score?

Good question.....cuz I'm wondering that myself. I know things take time. I don't think you can make just 1 payment on something, and your Credit Score 'jumps' a whole bunch. But........as I make 'regular' payments, on my vehicle, I see my score go up ( a few points..) once in a while. I guess it depends on what it is....I don't know, though.

What does it matter what country someone lives in? Debt follows you WHEREVER you live? Did you mean what state they lived in?

I want to thank you for letting me into the forum. A friend of mine told me about this site. I'm looking forward to talking to people and helping myself out of debt.

GoodNatured, usually it takes 6 months to even show up on your report if you default on a debt so I wouldn't think it would happen really quickly. Getting behind on debts isn't hard to do these days even though we all try our best. I think at the least even a few months of paying the debt on time should hopefully turn that score around.

You can see an improvement in score soon after you find that the negative listing has gone out of your credit report. Moreover, in the meanwhile if you make timely payments of your existing debts, you can build up a good credit history which will help you to improve your credit score.
