why do insurance premiums vary?

How comes some people have to pay more for the same insurance?

Dadummy, there is a whole forum on insurance issues, you should join it also. Are you talking about car, life or medical, they pretty much cover all areas. It is a pretty good forum and they will be able to answer all your insurance questions, just click the link at the top of the page and register on their forum, then you can ask questions.

I have to pay over 200 dollars for my health insurance a month and my sister who has the exact same health problems and the same insurance only pays around 40 dollars. we both have medicare. the only differance is she has a 500 hospitol copay a year but i have to pay 50 every time i go to the er so for what i pay id be better off with her plan any one know the vanswer to this?

Your and your sister's plan may have different benefits that can make the difference in premium payment. Not that all Medicare plans have the same features. Secondly, women normally have to pay less on any insurance premium in comparison to the males. Compare the benefits that both of you receive and whether the premium suits you. Then you may consider switching your carrier.
