Subject: looking for help with a judgement

Hello,
great forum you have here.
My situation is, i have a debt from citibank that was originally about $2000, I did not pay on it, therefore being sold off multiple times each time they would tack on a new fee which is now up to around $8000. Anyhow, it now belongs to midland credit management the have taken me to court and the judgement was made against me. I live in ohio and they cant garnish my wages, but it is preventing me from purchasing a home. Is there any way to deal with these people? Or, since i did nothing before am I now bound by law to pay the entire amount? thank you in advance for your time.

It is true that the judgment will always be made against you if you are a defaulter. As you said, your present obligation is about four times your original debt, I would suggest that you can come to an agreement with your CA, midland credit management for a repayment plan. Since they cannot garnish your wage, you remain in a safer position. You can also ask your CA for deleting it from your credit report after you pay the debt in full which will help you to get a better deal on your next loan for purchasing your home. But make sure you get everything in writing.

I would look into the various laws in your state. Maybe you will find somekind of loo[hole to help you out. Short of that I agree with Mary. Contact the owner of the debt and make a reasonable payment arragement. Try your best to get it in writing and ask for a PFD at the end. I dont know about in Ohio but, I know in most states judgemnts stay on your CR for as much as 15 years

I had a civil judgement filed against me. I responded to the law firm offering a payment plan via certified mail two times however they filed ignored my offer and want to file a Wage garnishment. Can I file to have the judgement vacated ?

You need to go through the court for your payment plan. It should tell you on the jugement info they sent you how to file it. If they set a date to meet about the garnishment bring the letters you sent the CA as proof you tried.

Hi one jt
You need to visit the court and file a judgement that you do not want to go for wage garnishment, instead you want to repay the loan through a repayment plan. take the copies of the certified mail you sent to the CA as a proof that you tried to communicate with the CA for debt repayment
