Hi bud
I think you should send a dispute letter to the CRAs asking them the details of the credit account that is shown in your credit report. _________________ All the Best

Call the company, and speak to the fraud department.
File a report with the FTC.
File a police report (if you can do so by email/fax/phone)...you may need to provide copies to the creditors and CRAs. _________________ I don't dream since I quit sleeping |

Hi bud
I think morningstar is correct. You should first report the matter to the FTC and file a complaint with the police. You can obtain the FTC complaint form from the link https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup _________________ Where there's a will, there's a way !! |

quote]I also got 2 bad reports from Palisades on my Experian report and one on TransUnion. I don't know what this is!!! I don't owe anyone and they have key derogatory reports right up until this month for my AT&T bill and my bill is paid right up to date. They even have an entry for this month, 03/08.....I can't believe this. My credit score is WAY DOWN and this is the only derogatory report on there.
What can a girl do?? I see there is some debt validation letter, but what do I write in that letter?? Or is there a form for such a letter somewhere online?? [/quote]

Re: Acct #1234XXXXX
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is being sent to you in response to a claim filed in my credit report in 3/2004. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 (b) that your claim is disputed and validation is requested.
This is NOT a request for “verification” or proof of my mailing address, but a request for VALIDATION made pursuant to the above named Title and Section. I respectfully request that your offices provide me with competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you.
Please provide me with the following:
What the money you say I owe is for;
Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe;
Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe;
Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable;
Identify the original creditor;
Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account
Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state
Provide me with your license numbers and Registered Agent
At this time I will also inform you that if your offices have reported invalidated information to any of the 3 major Credit Bureau’s (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion) this action might constitute fraud under both Federal and State Laws. Due to this fact, if any negative mark is found on any of my credit reports by your company or the company that you represent I will not hesitate in bringing legal action against you for the following:
Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
Defamation of Character
If your offices are able to provide the proper documentation as requested in the following Declaration, I will require at least 30 days to investigate this information and during such time all collection activity must cease and desist.
Also during this validation period, if any action is taken which could be considered detrimental to any of my credit reports, I will consult with my legal counsel for suit. This includes any listing any information to a credit reporting repository that could be inaccurate or invalidated or verifying an account as accurate when in fact there is no provided proof that it is.
If your offices fail to respond to this validation request within 30 days from the date of your receipt, all references to this account must be deleted and completely removed from my credit file and a copy of such deletion request shall be sent to me immediately.
I would also like to request, in writing, that no telephone contact be made by your offices to my home or to my place of employment. If your offices attempt telephone communication with me, including but not limited to computer generated calls and calls or correspondence sent to or with any third parties, it will be considered harassment and I will have no choice but to file suit. All future communications with me MUST be done in writing and sent to the address noted in this letter by USPS.
It would be advisable that you assure that your records are in order before I am forced to take legal action. This is an attempt to correct your records, any information obtained shall be used for that purpose.
Best Regards, _________________ ****************************

i just ran my credit report and found a charge from pallisades collections on there as well.
Apparently when AT&T switched to Cingular they sold their debt collections to this Palisades company.
I searched for the Palisade collections company on Google and found a number, was redirected to another phone number and I left a message with someone. This was today so i'm waiting to see what happens.
Phone number is: 1866-877-0008 but you will be directed to call 1800-425-0006.
The first thing you hear when you call the 866 number is "If you are calling regarding your AT&T account please call 1800-425-0006."
Another thing is that Palisades Collection Company was sold to NCL another debt collections agency which is why the new phone number.
My plan is to try to deal with the collection company and then possibly legal action if they are unwilling to fix my credit report.
Hope this helps |

| Sometimes it is really hard to find a number. Especially when they go by different names. |

| I also had an account in good standing with AT&T when they sent me to collections for another account that wasn't mine. Send a debt validation letter to Palisades or call them for more information at 1-866-230-8094. If the account is not yours, the first thing you should do is call AT&T. It took a really long time but I finally got AT&T to take care of their error (8 months and over 30 phone calls later). Good luck. Don't let this stuff hang out on your credit report! |

| Believe me Sabrina I really know where you are coming from on this one. I always get collection calls for accounts that aren't mine. I pretty muxh got rid of most of them by threatening to sue them for harassment. I told them with the number of calls I get a day from different collectors I wouldn't need a job cause I would just let them pay me for aggravation they were causing. Anyway Great job. |

| It is bad enough getting your own collection calls for someone's delinquencies, I feel for you. |
