Well, both are for the long term. I prefer mutual funds rather than banking on on company. Diversification is a must. Last I looked the stock market, even if we include the depression, has averaged 10% throughout the years. With a 3.9% inflation rate. That would give you a 6% increase.
Both are for the long haul. Do not bail out when it goes down. That is when you buy.
