I need a letter a to remove medical collections from my credit. I have several collection agencies calling me for medical bills that are not mine. I need them removed, but don't know how.

Hi slim,

You should check your credit report, to find out if the debt accounts (for which you received collection calls) are included on your credit report. It is likely that along with the debt accounts, the names and addresses of the collection agencies (CA) will also be mentioned. I would suggest that you send a "Debt Validation Letter" to the CAs. In case you do not receive any reply from the CAs, you can dispute the matter directly with the credit bureaus.

The credit bureaus will investigate and if they are unable to verify the accounts as yours, they will remove it from your credit report. You will find a sample "Debt Validation Letter" and "Dispute Letter" in the Letters of Credit section. Remember to send both the letters via certified mail, with a return receipt requested.

Subject: Removing medical collections is hard!

Removing lates can be a big pain! So can medical collections! I have sent lots of letters to the credit bureaus, the collectors, credit card companies, etc. Eventually I just hired a reputable non-profit based on a friends reference. RemoveMyCreditInquiries.ORG was their website. They removed hard inquiries, 30 day lates, 60 day lates and 90 day lates. I am not sure if they do anything else. They charged me only $15 as well.

Where have you come across this information? I mean is this reflecting on your credit report or is some collection agency calling you? Have you asked for debt validation? If not, then send them a debt validation letter.

You can find a sample letter here that you can use.

If they cannot validate your debt, then you may dispute them with your OC or the credit bureaus and this should get them removed.
