If all of these inquiries occurred within a 7-14 day time frame, then the FICO scoring algorithm treats all seven of the inquiries as one. I don't think you have any real recourse here, though...but you could always try contacting the four individual lenders, explaining the situation, and asking them to file disputes on your behalf.

Please correct if I'm wrong........if you have 'unauthorized' inquiries you can get them removed..right? But..if the inquiries are authorized, how long does it take for an inquiry to come off your credit?

These are not necessarily unauthorized inquiries.

send a letter to each company that will force them to prove they had authorization to inquire into your credit or delete their mark. You can find a few samples on my site

You might also ask the auto dealer you were working with to provide a letter of explanation before asking these lenders to remove credit inquiries. This may help. Also a Hard inquiry on your credit report should fall off in two years.

I think cbass has an excellent idea there. If they are the ones that made the error they should also be the one to help fix it.

Hi sdchargers_63
A hard inquiry if authorized remains in your credit report for two years. Each of these hard inquiries reduces your credit score by as much as 5 to 10 points. However the inquirers may not agree to remove hard inquiry if it is authorized, but they will definitely remove unauthorized inquiries if you inform them in writing. But there is a way known as bumpage, by which you can remove even the authorised hard inquiry from the Equifax and Transunion credit reports.

I agree. I wonder how all this weird stuff turns up here. Especially lately. We have had film downloading, porn and free advertising for debt release. What next?

Normally the moderators will catch the spam and noted it as such on this site, I guess a few of them are getting away from them, that happens.
