A judgment was filed against me my check was garnished, but I lost my job so I was paying the company in person so I have the receipts to show it but can I get this removed if the jugement wasnt solve thru the court, but by me and the company

If it is paid off you need to produce reciept to the courts. If the courts were not involved then the company needs to contact the credit reporting agency and make sure that they list it properly or remove it all together for you. Please let us know how this turns out, goodluck.

Hi sierra
As far as I know, Judgment is an order issued by the court in order to make you pay the debt back to your creditor. This happens if he has filed a lawsuit against you to the court in order to get back his money. But you said "jugement wasnt solve thru the court, but by me and the company". I cannot get this point. But even if you have paid back the debt, judgment stays in your credit report for seven years until and unless you have made a pay-for-deletion agreement with your creditor before paying off the debt.

Yes, Judgment is a court order which is generally given against you when your creditors sue you to the court. A judgment stays on your credit report for seven years and lowers your credit score. If you have settled off the debt to the creditor before the judgment date, and even then you are taken to the court, you can show them the documents that you have repaid the debt and the judgment will go in your favor. But if you want to get the listing removed from your credit report. you should have come to a pay for deletion agreement with your creditor before you paid off your debt. This it because, one you pay off the debt, the creditor will show no interest to remove the listing from the report.

Isn't that the truth? Once you pay they will not work with you.

Why should they--debtors are not customers.

OP needs to have the judgment creditor file a satisfaction of judgment.
OP's credit report should reflect an updated "satisfied" tradeline, but removal is unlikely (but not impossible).

I agree morning star, it should state satisfied, what steps would OP have to do to get some sort of positive result here? Ideally, removal would be great, but I guess satisfied would be much more positive than it stands right now.

Anything would be more positive then showing the debt hasn't been paid. Do they really have the power to remove these bad marks?

Judgment remains in your credit report for seven years or until the SOL in your state has expired, whichever is later. If there is a judgment against you, it is always necessary to satisfy the judgment because an unsatisfied judgment may lower your credit score. Not only this, if you have an unsatisfied judgment, your wages may be garnished. Once you satisfy a judgment, it will appear in your credit report as "paid judgment"

Do you know how long the judgement stays on your report if you live in PA?

Anonymous (not verified)

As far as I know, Judgments in Pennsylvania is valid for five years. The SOL in the state is 4 years and so it should stay in your report for not more than 5 years. Judgments can be renewed after five years, if it is renewed it may appear on your credit report for another five years. However, lien is only effective in the state in which it is filed.
