the remaining amount is $4000 and have my wage garnishment stopped because as of now (feb 2012) I have a credit score of 616 and I want to purchase my first home. I would like to know will paying off this garnished loan make my credit score "instanly" rise to above 616 (You need over 620 to even be considered) In other words, once its paid off in full, how long will it take to repair my score so i can make my home purchase? Thank you

can a collector file a garnishment , if i had no knowlege of the judgement, a judgement was filed, and papers were served to an unknown party at a former address.

about ten years ago i bought a car for 6,000. i got laid off but i paid on the car for 2 years. the car ended up getting taking away from the finance company due to lack of payment. 1 year went by and i started to get my checks garnished from work. so far i payed almost 12,000 and i changed jobs since. now i got another letter saying i owe another 4,000 in interest. can they do that. there taking so much money from me and it wont end. how could i stop it? so far about 15,000 total has been taking from me. does this sound right?

I HAVE A DEBT WITH A HOSPITAL THAT WAS TURNED OVER TO A LAW OFFICE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO WORK WITH ME SO THEY HAVE ORDERED A GARNISHMENT OF 25% OF MY CHECK UNTIL IT'S PAID OFF. I TRIED TO DO A SLOW PAY BUT I WASN'T ABLE TO PAY EVERY MONTH ON TIME. I CAN'T AFFORD FOR THEM TO TAKE THIS MONEY. WHAT CAN I DO? I HAVE UNTIL 5PM TODAY WITH MY EMPLOYER TO GET SOMETHING IN WRITING TO NOT GARNISH MY WAGES OR THEY WILL TURN IN TO PAYROLL SINCE THIS IS PAY WEEK. PLEASE HELP

PostPosted: Fri Mar 16, 2012 4:01 am    Post subject: Garnishment time limit expired and now I receive a settlemen

We are the creditor in a landlord/tenant case. The debtor has failed to make payments or payment arrangements for more than a year now. We filed a wage garnishment to the debtor's employer, allowing the debtor 30 days to file a response to the garnishment. On the final day of the response period (at least by the date on the letter) the debtor offered a settlement for less than the judgement amount, and it was not filed through the court. Do we need to respond rejecting the offer? Is it even valid since it did not go through the court? Will the garnishment go through since the offer was not filed properly? Any feedback is appreciated. Our case is filed in Maryland if there is the ability to access the specific laws.
