Calling them up will not help you to solve the problem. You should send a debt validation letter by certified mail with return receipt to verify whether you actually owe the debt or not. If they can validate the debt within 30 days from the date they receive the debt validation letter, then you owe the debt. However, validating the debt means that the CA must provide you with a copy of the agreement between you and the original creditor, proof that the original creditor has sold the debt to worldwide asset purchasing llc and finally the outstanding bill details.

Since you have failed to respond to the court summon within 20 days of receipt as mentioned on the summon, a default judgment may be brought against you by the law firm which may lead to either garnishment of your wage of garnishment of your bank account. This garnishment process will continue till the time the judgment amount is paid in full.
If a judgment is passed, you can file a motion to vacate the judgment by visiting the court which has announced the judgment against you.

A creditor or a collection agency can garnish your wage only if it brings judgment against you. To be sure whether the CA has the right to garnish your wages, you can get a certified copy of the judgment from the clerk's office in the court which has issued the judgment. If you do not agree with the judgment, you can file a motion to vacate the judgment.

I am not giving "advice", I am relaying my personal experience with them: over 2 yrs ago I was contacted by Gerald Moore % Associates who was "representing" WWAP demanding a payment. They would not provide me any information and eventually had me served with a court order. I wish to God on high I had gone before the judge. I understand from others that GEMA and WWAP are companies that pick up accounts that were charged off, written off in BKs, etc. and then they try to collect for a 100% profit. Due to my ignorance in this situation and the fact that they threatened me in everyway possible, including threatening to follow my 12 yr old daughter, I agreed to a huge down payment and a monthly payment for 18 months. They never ever provided any documentation of this so called ALLEGED debt. Do NOT be afraid to show up in court and ask the judge to hear you out and protect you. Please, research via the internet and public library. The are bullying scam artists.

I have been trying to straighten out my credit card debt.

Worldwide Acceptance purchasing claims that I owe them over 16,000 from debts they purchased from my original creditors.

However, WAP LLC does not show up anywhere on my credit report. I am beginning to think they are a scam.

I don't know, what do you think?

I just talked to B of A about an item showing up on my credit report of a charged off account - (I have several other B of A accounts). B of A says the account was sold to - guess who - in 2005 - and there is nothing they can tell me about the charge, what it was for or anything else - have to call - guess who - and ask them. The original amount is small (I typically spend more on a golf outing). After reading these posts would bet my typing fingers this company belongs to B of A in some form. Bernie Madoff revisited.

I called this company three years ago in response to a letter from them. I was put on hold for 45 minutes and eventually hung up. I never heard from them until I received a letter dated 11/2/2009 (from an attorney))offering me a 45% reduction in whatever I owed them. There was no amount listed nor any information as to who I supposedly owe this money to.. Today, 12/21/2009, I received a letter saying they have a judgment against me and I owe $12,000. The judgment comes from Gila County Court, Arizona but I now live in Oregon and have been here 6 months. The company claims I was served with papers but I wasn't and didn't know this was going to court...I wasn't even in the state. The company apparently doesn't have my previous Arizona address or my current Oregon address as all mail from them is addressed to me but using my daughter's address. Since they don't have my address how could I have been served? I don't have any idea who these people are or to whom I owe the money, I wasn't served with any papers whatsoever. An unusual statement in today's letter is Worldwide Asset Purchasing claim the judgment against me (in Arizona) is a "foreign judgment"

If you truly do not know who this company is then you need to get a hold of an attorney and file suit, they can not sue you for something that you do not owe.

You may want to contact your state attorney generals office, they should get actively involved and help you with this if this is a bogus debt, go to the state attorney generals website in your state and file the complaint online or pick up the phone and call them. I am sure that they will help you with this and they are a powerful entity.

Here is another one of those posts and I end up asking the same question every time. How do they legally get a judgment with out ever serving papers? They say they do but should they not have to show some type of proof to the court or judge that they actually served these? What about appealing it at this point? They need to do something about how these type of companies are gtting judgments with out showing they tried every avenue to make the debtor aware of their actions. Maybe Obama will find time to do something about this since I am sure there are many many people with in the last two years that have defaulted on their debts and moved. A lot of people lost their homes due to economic conditions and I am sure defaulted on some credit card debt am long the way. Are these com panies going to serve tehm at residences they no longer reside at and win judgments too?

I have a judgement against me by WWAP for what they claim is $5,000 over a charged off credit card account with B of A. I know I have the debt, but on my credit report the judgement filed is $3,800. I have had bankruptcy attorneys sending me mail in regards to this single debt alone, stating I qualify for bankruptcy just for the debt they claim ($5,000).

I'm on the fence about bankruptcy, I'm 27, in school and trying to get my life on track. I do have other charged off debts, much smaller and not heading towards judgement, and I planned on using my financial aid disbursements to pay off these debts. The reason bankruptcy looks like an option is because I am getting married this summer, as well as having a baby and I could use the disbursement payments to put towards a down payment on a house.

I know the reprocussions of havinga bankruptcy on my credit report and getting a house, but my credit score as it stands is horrible. Should I be getting a hold of these local attorneys about my, or should I try to sttle the debts with WWAP and use the fact I've had offers to help me file bankruptcy as leverage on a debt settlement?
