I have never received a summons. A friend told me that a google search showed that I was mentioned in a court listing for a hearing for a alias summons. I did not receive notice of that either. What does this mean? Am I required to do anything?

you should go to the court and examine the record. I have never heard of alias summons. it just be someone with the same name. if it is too far away write back.

also, get a copy of your free credit report. annualcreditreport.com

Hi Dill,

An alias summons is the one which is issued when the original one had not had it's effect because it may have been faulty in form. This new summons supersedes the previous one. Thus, the previous one will have no effect. So, can you tell me if there was any summons served to you previously?

First pull a copy of your credit report, and check if there are any judgments listed against you. In addition as cinnamngrl has advised, you can visit the court, and check if there are any such judgment against you.

Thanks,

Aaron
