Date of Status

When you have filed for bankruptcy, what is the actual "Date of Status?" Is it your filing date or discharge date, because Equifax has it as the filing date and Experian has it as my discharge date.

Bankruptcy stays in your credit report for seven to ten years from the date it has been discharged and not from the date of filing bankruptcy. So I think that the "Date of status" will be the date when your bankruptcy was discharged. You can call Equifax at 1-888-202-4025 and find it out.

I believe Carol is correct and that Equifax just entered the data wrong. Happens all the time.

Then does the OP have to go back and prove, to the CB's, that they entered the date incorrectly?

Yes they would. Every couple of months they change the information.

Nina, It is the date of discharge. I know this answer for sure because IO went through it about 13 years ago. It took mine 10 years to fall off my report. A lot of credit counselors will try to tell you they can get it removed but I believe this to be far from the truth.
